Hate is hate

This guy, Bill Penzey, tries to hide his own bias, hate and intolerance by sending emails with supposed business purposes to unwitting customers who might have been drawn in to purchase something from this spice business. I do not care what your politics are. Keep it out of your business. How is this rant below any different from the intolerance Penzey is accusing his adversaries of? I used to drive to his store in Naperville Il for all my needs – over 40 miles. Now I want to vomit every time I think about giving this business one nickel. Look at the email this monster is sending out:

And it is time to move on (for now) from our Dr. King Holiday calling out of the open racism of the Republican Party. Our stores will be reopening soon and with the way racism isn’t an intellectual process but an emotional reaction, it will be good to have this latest rage cycle behind us before unlocking the doors. Even though we all know better, we like to think we’ve evolved since those grainy black and white news clips of Dr. King’s days. We haven’t. We are also done with going along to get along with Republican nonsense. It’s been five years since Donald Trump took over the Republican Party and there is no sign the cavalry is coming or any sense of anyone within the party moving to take on his racism, lies, corruption and cruelty. America and the world have real problems that can’t wait any longer to be addressed. With any decency or integrity that the Republican Party of sixty years ago long gone, today it is little more than a protection racket taking kickbacks from those massively profiting off of making our problems unsolvable. It’s time to move on. I know if you are new to us what we are up to might seem a little bit odd, but spices live at the unique point where the kindness and compassion of our cooking meets up with the world of commerce and jobs and trade. For 50,000 years now, spices have been what connects the incredibly intimate act of compassion that is cooking with the far corners of a very wide and very diverse world. This connection is a multi-way highway that leads to all sorts of wonderful back-and-forths and tasty twists and turns as we connect to the incredible amount of human kindness this world holds. I’m convinced along this road is where we will find the solutions to our most challenging problems if only we have the heart to look with eyes wide open and the strength to stand up to those who would shout us down for looking. And as of late Fox and the media of the right are doing a whole lot of shouting. Seriously, just type Penzeys into Google. The biggest names are swinging hard and doing their best to bully. It’s our thyme in the barrel it would seem. They are throwing everything at us but the kitchen sink, possibly because they don’t know where their kitchen is. How will this turn out? We’ve been working hard for years to position ourselves to break from the code of conduct Republican customers demand of every business they spend money with. We have arguably the best group of employees any business could wish for. And best of all, we have you, a million plus kind-hearted Cooks who don’t cook to retreat from the world, but instead cook to connect to it. I like our odds. I like them a lot. It seems I can’t ask you to buy our gift cards without Fox and the rest accusing me of begging. So please, please don’t buy our 2-$25 Choose Love Gift Cards for just $35 that have no fees and no expiration dates. Please pay no attention to the media machines of the right coming together in unison to aim their echo machine at us out of a desire to drive us into bankruptcy, or to the anger and rage and hurt they are directing towards our frontline employees. Strike that. On that one I’m not too proud to beg. Please-please show our workers extra love. They don’t deserve the hurt Fox puts out into the world. No one does. It’s what we are doing all this to end.
