For years I have been tinkering around with blogging. I would get off to a great start and then slowly lose steam and fall back to being lazy, posting on Facebook or Twitter. While it is very easy to get trapped into hitting the easy button. This leads to spewing content to a feed that really doesn’t take much thought. Kind of like grabbing fast food instead of making a homemade nutritious meal.
Bloggers are a different type of individual. There are millions out there, but none of my Fb “Friends” or contacts on other platforms do it. Why? It takes effort. A lot of it.
I miss the lookbacks that I have on FB and the easy friend connections. I missed the return of one of my favorite DDO events because I don’t see their feed daily on FB.
But that is the small downside.
Now, I look at the pics I have taken. I think about the news and articles I see and think, “Do I really want this out representing me?”
That mental pause is worth its weight in gold. I allows me to move on, not thinking about what others think, not hunting the “Like”, or awaiting the troll response. In essence, it makes my contributions cleaner, more relevant and hopefully, more entertaining.
But as much as I do this for myself, my hope is that the kids will someday sit down as they are deciding what to do with my stuff and share a moment or two from what they see here.
Now, I will be very disappointed if I give up on this in a few weeks, lol!
